Conference about Press Freedom, Hanoi

To highlight the 250th anniversary of the Freedom of the Press Act teachers and researchers from School of Journalism organized and participated in a media workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The conference entitled “Modern Journalism and Communication Skills in the 21st Century: Sharing Experiences between Sweden and Vietnam” was organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden, Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communications. Among external speakers were Anette Novak (Swedish Government's former Media Commissioner), Margita Boström (Asia Correspondent Swedish Radio) and Niklas Sjögren (former Asia Correspondent Swedish Television). From School of Journalism, Mia-Marie Hammarlin (head of the Department), Helena Stenkvist Söderlin (lecturer), Ola Isaksson (lecturer) and Andreas Mattsson (program director) participated as speakers and panel participants.

The Swedish Freedom of Press Act is a symbol of transparency, openness and full access to information and the first in the world of its kind.
