Public lecture: Liquid Newsroom – How to Cover Indian Elections

On Friday 27 April 13.00-16.00 there will be a workshop on covering the political election in India. The workshop is held at School of Journalism (Journalistutbildningen), Gamla Kirurgen, floor 3. Welcome.

In 2019, the world's largest democracy India will hold its 17th general election, where over 20 political parties and as many as a 4000 candidates will try to grab a seat in India's Lower House which has over 400 seats. Journalists and media researchers across the world view Indian elections as a spectacle that offers a glimpse of the functioning of a vibrant democratic process. In Liquid Newsroom - an interactive workshop - media researcher Vibodh Parthasarathi and journalist Divya Rajagopal will take the participants through the process of covering this complex political process. 

 
** Vibodh Parthasarathi is an Associate Professor (on extraordinary leave 2017-20) at the Centre for Culture, Media & Governance, Jamia Millis Islamia, New Delhi. He is also a founding board member at the Centre for Internet & Society, Bangalore. His main areas of research and teaching are media policy and media business.

** Divya Rajagopal is an Assistant Editor at the Economic Times newspaper (part of the Times of India group), based in Mumbai. She has previously worked as a broadcast reporter at Bloomberg TV in Mumbai and CNBC TV18 in Chennai. Divya also teaches business and broadcast reporting to media students at Wilson College, Mumbai.
